The Healthy Liv-ing Clinic is a partnership between NYCH, Burnet Institute and Alfred hospital that aims to deliver support and treatment for people living with Hep C in a community setting rather than in the traditional hospital setting.

Hep C is a virus that is transmitted through blood to blood contact with an infected individual. Over 270,000 Australians have been infected by the Hep C virus. Most transmissions are associated with injecting drug use.

There are several different strains of the Hep C virus called genotypes. It is possible to be infected with more than one genotype.

Currently there is no effective vaccine for the Hep C virus. So to avoid infection it is important to be "blood aware".

The more you know, the better you are able to make informed decisions about your health and lifestyle. If you would like to know about Hep C, testing, transmission, how to live with the virus and/or what treatments are available then come in and have a chat to one of our staff.
